Description
Opie House is a former house, now used as an office, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of rendered brick and covered with black pantiles. The building stands three storeys high and features three bays. The central door, which is from the 19th century, is flanked by attached columns that support an ornate over-door. To the right of the door is a 19th-century canted bay window, which has triple attached shafts with crocket capitals and decorative lintels. The other windows are sash windows with glazing bars and simply moulded surrounds. There is horizontal rustication on the plinth to the left of the door and rusticated quoins on the corners. The building is topped with a paired bracket cornice. A plaque commemorates Amelia Opie, who lived in this house or an adjoining one.
