Description

Rose Cottages comprise a terrace of six houses built in 1872, as indicated by a tablet on the facade. The buildings are constructed of red brick with decorative brick patterns (diapers) and some yellow brick detailing, topped with a hipped pantile roof and three brick ridge chimneys. The houses are two storeys high, with six windows on the first floor. Doors are located at the ends of the terrace and in pairs at number 3, which are 20th-century additions; these alternate with pairs of sash windows featuring glazing bars, set beneath cambered brick arches with decorative keyblocks on the ground floor. Window number 31 has a 20th-century first-floor window. A round-headed passage arch is situated at the right-hand end of the terrace. A central tablet reads “Rose Cottage/City Road/1872”.
