Description
Walnut Tree Shades is a public house, originally dating to the 17th century, but significantly altered and extended in the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick with a stuccoed ground floor facade, and has a pantile roof. It is three storeys high and six bays wide. The ground floor windows are set within raised stucco surrounds featuring semi-circular heads and egg and dart details. There are entrances at the ends of the facade and one positioned off-centre. A simple fascia runs along the top of the ground floor. Sash windows are located above, each with a rubbed brick flat arch. The ground floor ceiling retains 17th-century cross and axial beams with nicked end stops. A three-storey extension to the east replicates the appearance of the main facade.
