Description

A terrace of twelve houses located on the north-west side of Newmarket Road, constructed in the early to mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed of yellow brick with a slate roof, and feature twelve brick ridge chimneys. The terrace has two storeys and a basement, with numbers 57 and 59 also including an attic. There are twenty-four first-floor windows, arranged in a symmetrical layout.

Each house is accessed by two steps leading to a door with six raised and fielded panels, some of which are glazed. The windows are 16-pane sash windows, set within flat gauged brick arches. The central doors are paired. Above the overlights, decorative glazing bars are set within panelled reveals flanked by fluted Doric half-columns and dentilled hoods. Number 69 has large-paned sash windows. The four central bays of the terrace slightly project and feature a pediment over numbers 57 and 59, which contains two round-headed attic windows. A rendered cornice and parapet complete the facade.
