Description
Roper Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century and around 1700, consisting of two sections. The building is constructed of flint with brick dressings on the west side and is entirely brick on the east, topped with a red pantiled roof. The earlier part of the house features a lobby entrance and is two stories high, while the east addition from around 1700 extends the length of the structure. The ground floor has four 20th-century windows and three 20th-century doors. On the first floor, there are four 20th-century casements, with two at lintel level that may replicate earlier rectangular openings. The east gable is made of brick, featuring a brick coped Dutch gable and an end stack, while there is an off-centre stack on the west side. Inside, the earlier section of the house includes stopped and chamfered cross beams, and one ground floor room has a chamfered spine beam. There is also a single-storey brick lean-to on the east side.
