Description
Church House is a house, now divided into two separate dwellings, dating to the mid-17th century. The rear and the south gable bear dates of 1663 and 16. The front facing the road is stuccoed over a flint and brick base, while the south gable and garden front are flint with brick dressings, with the central section being brick. The roof is covered in red pantiles. The house has three bays and two storeys. There are two ground floor and two first floor windows on the north side, with wooden casements. A 20th-century steel framed casement replaces one ground floor and one first floor window. A 20th-century lean-to has been added to the south, and a 20th-century porch is situated on the north side. The gables are parapeted, with a single off-centre chimney stack. A brick and flint pantiled lean-to extends from the south gable. The garden front’s southernmost bay contains a date inscribed in bricks and a partly blocked first floor rectangular window with brick dressings. Inside, a ground floor room on the north side contains a stopped spine beam with run-out stops and a bressumer, as well as a chamfered spine and bressumer beam.
