Description
The Lawn is a house built around 1820, featuring an earlier cottage that serves as a service wing. It has a double pile plan, is two storeys high, and consists of three bays. The exterior is finished in stucco on a brick and flint base, topped with a smut black pantiled roof. The ground floor includes two full-length double casements with margin-light glazing bars, while the first floor has three sash windows with glazing bars. The central entrance features double doors with three raised and fielded panels on each side, along with raised and fielded reveals and an architrave adorned with reeded pilasters and a pediment. A ground floor verandah supported by cast iron uprights features a leaded roof with a decorative valance. The building has a moulded eaves cornice, parapets, and two end stacks. At the eastern side, there is a two-storey brick and pantiled cottage that now functions as a service wing. The west gable of the main building is constructed of flint with brick dressings and has two partly blocked brick-dressed windows, indicating that the house may have origins dating back to before 1700.
