Description
This is a barn located 20 meters west of The Mews, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed from a mixture of brick and flint and features a pantiled roof. The barn is a single storey with a west side that has full height double doors, which are flanked by stepped buttresses. There are partly blocked slit ventilation lights, and two windows beneath the eaves to the left of the doors, as well as two more to the right in the middle of the wall. The roof is gabled with tumbling in the gable heads. On the east side, there is a sloping carriage entrance, which has later outshuts on either side. The roof structure includes tie beams on straight braces that drop to wall posts, with queen struts rising to the principals. There are two tiers of canted collars and three tiers of butt purlins, along with straight windbracing and secondary rafters pegged into the purlins. The Mews itself is not listed.
