Description

This is a house with origins in the late 16th century, significantly altered in the 17th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of brick and flint, with the south facade colourwashed. The north roof is tiled, while the south roof is covered with black glazed pantiles. The main part of the house runs east-west and is flint, while the south cross wing is brick. The house has two storeys and a dormer attic. A 20th-century door is located centrally, flanked on either side by two shuttered French windows. Six 20th-century casement windows are on the first floor, and the gabled roof has three 20th-century casements in gabled dormers. A 17th-century panelled ridge stack is located over the door.

The north elevation of the main range features a large, early 19th-century staircase block of brick, with a stepped gable and a sash window under a segmental head. To the left of the staircase block is a late 17th-century brick entrance porch with a segmental doorway and clasping angle pilasters that terminate in a plain tiled drip course. Above the porch is an early 19th-century stepped gable. A single-storey outshut is to the left of the porch, with a sash window with glazing bars above it. To the right of the staircase block, there is one blocked first-floor window.

The south cross wing has a stepped gable head and angle pilasters rising to a plain tiled drip course at the eaves line. The windows are a mix of 19th-century and 20th-century sashes and casements. The cross wing has a central ridge stack.
