Description

Holly Grove is a house dating to around 1830. It is constructed of gault brick with a slate roof and follows a double-pile plan. The main part of the house is two storeys high and comprises three bays, with a further bay added to the east at the same time, under the same roof span. The central entrance has a panelled door behind a Roman Doric porch, designed to resemble Greek architecture. The porch features fluted columns and rear pilasters, an abacus, but no bases, and an entablature with a Doric frieze. Horned sash windows with glazing bars are set beneath gauged skewback arches. The roof is hipped, with a ridge stack situated above the division of the facade and the additional bay, and a further stack on the western roof slope.
