Description
This barn, located 35 meters south of Beach Farmhouse, dates from the early 18th century. It features a timber frame with brick gable walls and a thatched roof. The east side has a central set of full-height double doors, and the walls are weatherboarded. On the west side, there are opposing doors that are obscured by an outshut. The north gable was rebuilt in the 20th century, while the south gable includes tumbling and an owl hole. The timber frame of the east and west walls is made of thin scantling with widely spaced studs, and it has straight bracing. The barn has tie beams on arched braces that drop to the studs, along with two tiers of butt purlins and two tiers of collars. Additionally, there is arched windbracing below the lower tier of purlins.
