Description
The coach house, now used as a garage, is one of a pair built in 1904 by E.S. Prior, located approximately 20 meters north of Thornfield Residential Home for the Elderly. It is constructed of uncoursed flint with random carstone and features carstone dressings and on-edge tile decorations, topped with pantiles. The building is single storey with a tall attic beneath a steeply pitched roof. The front has a parapeted gable with brick tumbling-in rising from low eaves. A wide semi-circular arch made of carstone has tiles forming the keystone, with doors set within a deep arch recess that has a weather-boarded left facade above. The attic gable includes a keyed oculus with glazing bars, and there are decorative lozenges made of tiles, along with the date "1904" in brick. The rear and left return feature 4-light leaded casements, and there is a tall brick chimney shaft on the left. To the front left, there is an attached wall with a tile string course below a brick cap, and an attached round pier made of flint that stands approximately 3 meters high.
