Description

Lodge Cottage to the Dales is a lodge dated 1913, as indicated by the cast iron cistern. Constructed of square knapped flint with brick dressings and a plain tile roof, it has an irregular plan of two bays and a 1½ storeys, featuring a projecting cross wing to the left. The cross wing’s gable extends forward, partially across the first bay. The windows are casement windows with leaded panes, retaining their original ornate fittings. A half-glazed door is accompanied by a three-light window in the first bay, above which is a gabled half dormer with swept valleys, the gable of which is rendered. The second bay has a three-light casement window on the ground floor. The cross wing features a four-light casement window on the ground floor and a two-light casement window above. The right-hand gable includes an external brick stack with an oversailing cap and two attic windows. A cast iron cistern is set against the return of the cross wing to the first bay, bearing the date and initials "1913 HDK."
