Description

High Cottage is a house dated 1697 on the south gable, featuring colourwashed brick and a thatched roof. The building has a two-storey facade facing east. There is a door to the left, which is sheltered by a 20th-century gabled hood. On either side of the door, there is a cross casement window, and a hoodmould is present over a blocked window. The first floor has two casement windows. The gabled roof has internal end stacks and includes tumbling in the gable heads. The south gable is pierced by two 20th-century casements under 17th-century hoods at the first floor, with two additional 20th-century casements below and two circular 20th-century attic windows above. A string course runs along the eaves, and the roof structure consists of tie beams, one tier of butt purlins, and collars.
