Description
Pudding Norton Hall is a house that likely has a core dating from the mid 17th century, with rebuildings from the 18th and early 19th centuries. The earlier house is incorporated within a three-storey front section that features a three-bay center and single-bay wings. At the rear is a brick extension from around 1800, which is two storeys high. The front section is made of brick with stucco refacing and some stone dressings added around 1820. The roof is covered with black glazed pantiles.
The ground floor end bays have tripartite bow window sashes with glazing bars, topped with a Tuscan Doric entablature and a stone parapet. The recessed center bays feature a glazed porch supported by four Tuscan Doric columns, also with an entablature and stone parapet. On either side of the porch are single sashes with glazing bars, which have arched voussoirs in stucco above them. The first and second floors contain five sashes with glazing bars. At the attic level, there is a stucco string course across the facade, arranged over the end bays as arched voussoirs above the first-floor windows. The parapet has a steeply pitched roof.
There are end stacks on the north and south parapets, with the lower section of the north end stack dating from the 17th century and featuring chamfered brick dressings. Inside, the ground floor center has chamfered and stopped cross beams and possibly reused panelling.
