Description

The barn at Grove Farm is a mid-18th century structure built of brick with a thatched roof. It features a brick plinth and the east side is supported by four stepped buttresses. The central section has full height double doors, and the gabled roof has gable ends that each include three ventilation slits. On the west side, there are opposing double doors. The roof is constructed with tie beams that were originally supported by arched braces, though some have been replaced with straight braces and knuckle braces. It also includes two tiers of taper-tenoned butt purlins and cambered collars, with straight windbracing over the entrances.
