Description
The Grove is a house built in the late 17th century but was completely remodeled and raised in height in 1745. It is constructed of rendered and colourwashed brick, with a roof made of black glazed pantiles. The brickwork on the returns is in English Bond. The south facade features three storeys and five bays, with a central panelled door set in a fluted case beneath an open dentiled pediment. There is a six-vaned fanlight above the door, and the sash windows have glazing bars in flush frames. The eaves are adorned with a console cornice, and the gabled roof has internal gable end stacks, with the one on the east being partly external. The gable heads display remnants of the 17th-century roof line, and there are tie plates dated 1745 in Roman numerals. At the rear, there is a two-storey early 19th-century cross wing. The interior features a staircase with turned balusters, although it has been otherwise altered.
