Description

Field Farmhouse is a 18th-century farmhouse built from galletted coursed Sandringham sandstone with brick dressings and a slate roof. The building has three bays, is two storeys tall with attics, and features a continuous integral 1.5 storey outshut at the rear. It has internal gable end stacks, with the right stack being renewed. The principal facade faces south and includes a dentil cornice, replica flush sash windows with glazing bars arranged in a 3 x 4 pane configuration in the first and third bays, and a central doorway with a rectangular fanlight. The door has been renewed, and there is a flush sash window with glazing bars arranged in a 3 x 3 pane configuration above it. The facade also features brick dressings and cambered arches, along with remnants of earlier opening surrounds in 17th-century brick on the ground floor to the left.

The left and right returns are made of galletted coursed Sandringham sandstone, with all windows having been renewed. The left return has an outshut with openings on the ground and attic floors, while the right return includes a late 20th-century glazed addition, with a doorway and window on the ground floor and windows on the first floor and attic. The rear of the building is constructed from broken flint and features a dogstooth cornice and a partially glazed doorway to the left, along with varied and renewed fenestration. Field Farmhouse is notable as the only example of a building entirely made of Sandringham sandstone without any additions.
