Description

This is a late 17th-century farmhouse, later divided into two dwellings at 10 and 10A Whin Common Road, Denver. The building has undergone additions in the late 20th century. It is constructed of brick and has a slate roof, arranged in a T-shaped plan. The original 17th-century wing is two-and-a-half storeys high, with set-offs at each floor level. It has a symmetrical facade of three bays. A central door is positioned under a blocked semicircular arch and the ground floor windows are set within gauged segmental brick heads. The three first-floor windows are beneath rusticated segmental brick heads, all detailing being from the 20th century. A dentil eaves cornice runs along the top, and the gabled roof has three gabled 20th-century dormers. A gable stack is located on the right side. The south gable is shaped with a high, domed top. String courses continue around the front elevation, rising over the first-floor window, which, along with the window below, has a rusticated arched surround. An attic window is also present. All window openings are 20th-century insertions.
