Description

Hardwick House is a late 18th-century house situated on the south side of Denver Sluice Road. It is constructed of brick with a stuccoed front and a slate roof. The symmetrical facade has five bays across two storeys. A central door is set within a doorcase featuring fluted pilasters that support a broken pediment, above which is a seven-vaned fanlight. The house has late 19th-century sash windows on each floor, each with a stucco keystone. A parapet incorporating a four-bay pediment partially conceals the gabled roof, and this pediment features a central attic roundel. A gable stack is located on the left side. Traces of tumbling are visible in the east gable head, and there are full-height 20th-century extensions to the rear.
