Description

The Old Rectory, now two private houses, was originally built around 1770 and extended in 1826. It is constructed of galleted carstone with brick quoins and dressings, and has a slate roof. The main block is two and a half storeys and three bays wide, with flat brick string courses marking the storey divisions. A rebuilt porch is located on the right-hand side, featuring fluted pilasters and a broken pediment above the door, with side lights flanking the entrance. A 19th-century hipped bay window has been added to the left, while a single original sash window with glazing bars remains in the centre, set within a timber frame beneath a segmental arch. The remaining sash windows are of a similar style. A double console eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. The roof is gabled, and there are square, four-flued stacks located at each of the rear corners. A single-storey extension has been added to the south side, alongside two rear gabled additions dating from 1826.
