Description

Duncans Farmhouse is a mid-18th century brick farmhouse with a slate roof, located on the Lynn Road in Tilney St. Lawrence. The building is two and a half stories high and has a symmetrical three-bay facade. The central entrance features a panelled door surmounted by a five-pane fanlight, sheltered by a flat hood supported on fluted Doric columns with pilasters extending into the wall. Above the door is a Regency-style French window with glazing bars, leading to a balcony formed by the door hood and further supported by wrought iron uprights beneath an ogeed hood. Sash windows with glazing bars are present on each floor, all with gauged skewback arches; some have been renewed. A flat brick string course runs between the floors, and the eaves have a double modillion cornice. The hipped roof incorporates stacks on the right and left sides. A two-story brick extension was added to the south in the 19th century, and a gabled cross wing was built to the rear.
