Description

Pooly Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse with early 19th-century additions and alterations. The whitewashed exterior is of clunch with brick dressings. The south elevation is two storeys high and is of an irregular arrangement of bays. A panelled door is centrally located on the right, with a glazed overlight and a 20th-century trellis porch. There are five sash windows on the ground floor and four on the first floor, all dating from the early 19th century and set within segmental arches. The gabled slate roof was raised in the 20th century, creating a saw-toothed eaves cornice. An internal brick chimney stack is located on the east gable, dating from the 18th century. Four horizontal windows are blocked on the east gable, one retaining a glazed central light. Moulded brick kneelers are present. The north side of the farmhouse comprises two crosswings with flush gables and scattered early 19th-century windows. The eastern wing has a plain tiled roof, while the western wing has a concrete tiled roof. Both wings have twin lozenge stacks on the west slope; the stack on the western wing has been partially rebuilt.
