Description

The Grange, previously known as The Rectory, is a late 17th-century rectory that has been altered in the late 18th century and had additions made in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed clunch, flint, and plastered brick, with pantile and slate roofs. The building is arranged in an L shape and has a two-storey south range featuring four bays. The central entrance consists of a panelled door beneath a seven-vaned fanlight, which is sheltered by a late 18th-century open gabled porch supported by a pair of fluted Ionic columns.

On the ground floor, there are four mid-19th-century sash windows, while the first floor also has four sashes; two on the left are 18th-century with glazing bars, and the others are 20th-century replacements. The gabled roof is hipped to the east to accommodate a 19th-century wing that extends to the north, incorporating the original gable of the south block. This wing has two storeys, featuring two central tripartite sashes and additional scattered 19th-century sashes. To the left, there is a cast iron glazed portico. The building has a paired modillion eaves cornice beneath the hipped slate roof and two ridge stacks positioned to the right of centre. Inside, the south block contains a cut string staircase with scrolled tread ends and moulded turned balusters.
