Description
This is a terrace of four houses on London Road, King’s Lynn, probably designed as a single group including a corner shop at number 32. Numbers 34 and 35 were built around 1825, while numbers 32 and 33 were completed around 1840. The houses are constructed of red brick with a brown brick facade, and have mainly slate roofs.
Numbers 34 and 35 are three-storey, two-bay houses. They have panelled doors placed together in the centre, each topped by a curvilinear fanlight. The door surrounds are panelled, although the original pedimented hoods are no longer present. Number 34 retains original sash windows with glazing bars and gauged skewback arches. Number 35 has late 19th-century plate-glass sashes and a canted bay window on the ground floor, also of that date. A parapet runs along the top of the building, and the roofs are hipped, with slate cladding to number 35 and concrete tiles to number 34. There is one stack on the rear roof slope of each house.
Numbers 32 and 33 are three-storey, three-bay houses, with a late 19th-century double-fronted shopfront to number 32. Number 33 has a panelled door under a round arch and a plain fanlight, with panelled reveals. Number 32 has sash windows with glazing bars and gauged skewback arches; the first-floor window on the left has been replaced in the late 20th century. The windows of number 33 are mostly late 19th-century, except for the late 20th-century casements on the second floor. A stucco string course runs at first-floor level, decorated with palmette and tulip motifs. The building has a parapet and a low-pitched slate roof, with a large stack located at the division between the properties.
