Description

This garden wall with an entrance gate is located 15 metres south of Old Hall Farmhouse in Ingoldisthorpe. It is aligned with the south entrance of the farmhouse. The wall features carstone tiles with brick dressings and a triangular section carstone coping on the east and north-east sides. The north and west faces of the wall, which face the garden, are constructed with high-quality Flemish bond brickwork that matches the wall attached to Old Hall Farmhouse.

At the north-east corner, there is a brick pier with a rusticated brick shaft, a moulded brick plinth, and a cornice, along with a rebate, a stone cornice, and a pedestal that supports a stone roundel. The carstone wall extends eastward, ending with a 20th-century rusticated brick pier. Another section of the wall continues detached to the east.

To the west, parallel to the south front of Old Hall Farmhouse, there is a lower section of the wall that includes a central 17th-century gateway made of carstone with brick dressings and quoins, featuring a stepped central lintel. The cast iron gate, dating from around 1830, incorporates a mix of Greek Revival and Gothic design elements. This structure is included primarily for its group value with Ingoldisthorpe Old Hall Farmhouse.
