Description

The Church of All Saints is a parish church dating from the early 14th century, with substantial rebuilding in 1872. It is constructed of flint with ashlar dressings and has plain tiled roofs. The early 14th-century west tower is three stages high and square, without buttresses. A polygonal stair turret is located to the south-east, featuring quatrefoil windows. The west window is trefoiled and has two lights, set within a hood mould. The tower has hollow moulded string courses between stages, quatrefoil lights to the ringing chamber, and two-light trefoiled belfry windows. A flushwork crenellated parapet tops the tower, with corner pinnacles. The remainder of the church dates to 1872 and features three-light intersecting nave windows and two-light intersecting or lancet windows in the chancel. Angle buttresses are present at the east end, and three lancets form the east window. Internally, the east end is characterized by a triple arcade behind the lancet windows, supported by columns with moulded polygonal bases and capitals. The nave and chancel have scissor-braced roofs. A chamfered tower arch marks the original 14th-century structure.
