Description

Old Hall Cottage is a house, originally built as a coachman's house for Ormesby Old Hall, dating to 1741. The construction combines brick and flint with a roof of black glazed pantiles. The house is single-storey, with a six-bay south facade where each bay is articulated by pilasters. One bay is blind, while the remaining bays contain two-light cross casement windows. The roof is gabled, featuring a central ridge stack and an eastern gable end stack, which is internal. The Dutch gables have been rebuilt with new parapets. The western gable displays tie irons shaped as the numerals "1741." A two-storey gabled cross wing extends to the rear, with a 20th-century French window on the ground floor. To the left and right of the main house are 19th-century outshuts with catslide roofs, which have been altered with 20th-century windows and doors.
