Description
The stables and forecourt walls at Ormesby Old Hall were built in 1735, with the stables added in the early 19th century. The structure is made of brick and features four brick piers topped with square stone coping and urns. The two western piers create the entrance to the drive in front of the house, while the eastern pair form the entrance to the stable yard. Between the central piers, there is a brick wall with a round-headed pedestrian door. The wall has a dentil eaves cornice and extends north towards the house, with the stable yard on one side. It includes a plinth course and a cornice with pilaster strips at regular intervals. The stables are single-storey and have a hipped slate roof. On the right side, there are three 20th-century garage doors that close off the original carriage bays. On the left, there are three semi-circular loose box windows with multiple mullions, and between two of these windows, there is a doorway with a semi-circular overlight above it. The interior still has two complete loose boxes and their fittings.
