Description

First World War memorial, approximately 1920, with Second World War additions.

MATERIALS: grey granite.

DESCRIPTION: Repps with Bastwick War Memorial is located in the churchyard of the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Church Street, Repps, Norfolk. It is prominently situated at the northern edge of the churchyard, by the northern entrance gate. It comprises a polished grey granite Latin cross on a three-tiered plinth with simple base. The plinth bears the inscriptions in incised and blacked lettering.

The inscription reads TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ THE GIVER OF VICTORY AND/ IN SACRED MEMORY OF THE MEN/ OF THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR/ LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 – 1918/ (NAMES)/ “THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE” ECCLUS. XLIV.14// 1939 – 1945/ (NAMES).
