Description
Nos 1-5 on Station Road is a shop, house, and store built in the mid-19th century from red brick and smut pantiles. The building has an 'L'-shaped plan and is two storeys high, extending to the north. The south elevation features a central four-panel door with a timber doorcase that has fluted pilasters, a plain entablature, and panelled reveals. To the east, there is a double corner shop front with a central door set at an angle. Fluted pilasters flank both the window and door. The building has sash windows with glazing bars and flat gauged brick arches, and there is a blank window above the doorcase. The north range includes half-glazed doors at first floor level, flanked by matching casement windows. A garage at the north end is not of special interest. This building is included for its group value.
