Description
Attfields Butchers Shop is a 17th-century building constructed of brick and red pantiles, featuring two storeys and attics. The facade facing the market place includes a 20th-century shop front, a first-floor sash window, and an attic sash window, both with segmental brick arches. The building has a 19th-century stepped gable with moulded brick kneelers; the gable to the south may date back to the 17th century, while there are 18 courses of brick below that to the north. A central chimney is located in the gable. The south side has a mix of sash and casement windows with segmental brick arches. The rear gable displays brick tumbling in and an oval blank window. Inside, there is a spine beam and closely spaced joists towards the rear of the shop. The building is included for its group value.
