Description
The Lodge is a former lodge house built in the mid to late 19th century, designed in the Tudor style. It is constructed of red brick with stone and Costessey-ware dressings and features a gabled slate roof. The building has one and a half storeys and a cruciform plan. It includes casement windows with ashlared surrounds and a canted bay with a hipped roof on the south side. The Lodge is adorned with elaborately carved bargeboards that have turned gable finials, and it has an ornate Costessey-ware eaves cornice with egg-and-tongue moulding. A central chimney stack is topped with four octagonal red brick shafts that have moulded caps and bases. On the west side, there is an entrance loggia with pointed arches supported by octagonal stone piers. Additionally, there is a one-storey hipped wing on the east side. The Lodge served as the former lodge to Stratton Strawless Hall.
