Description
Hainford War Memorial is a First World War memorial cross located in the south-west corner of the churchyard, near the Grade II listed Church of All Saints. A path leads from the main pathway to the memorial.
The memorial features a stone Calvary cross with a canopy, which sits atop an octagonal shaft that has a carved collar and a square base. The shaft rises from a square plinth that is chamfered at the top and stands on a chamfered foot. This entire structure is placed on a wide, square stone base with a moulded cap and chamfered foot.
The plinth bears an inscription and the names of the fallen in incised lettering. The main inscription on the front (west face) reads: "IN MEMORY OF/ THE BRAVE MEN OF THIS PARISH/ WHO DIED IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914-1919/ MAY THEY REST IN PEACE." The names of the 25 men who died are listed on the other faces of the plinth.
