Description
The Chequers Public House is an early 18th-century public house that has undergone significant alterations. It features colourwashed brick and a steeply-pitched thatched roof, rising to one and a half storeys. The building has a range of three regularly spaced windows, which are three-light casements with glazing bars and segmental heads on the ground floor. Above, there are three swept dormers, each with two-light casements. The gables are parapeted and include internal chimney stacks, with an off-centre axial stack. A later gabled porch is located opposite the stack, featuring a 20th-century door within a segmental-headed opening. On the north side, there are thatched and pantiled lean-tos, along with a 20th-century lean-to block on the east gable.
