Description
Oaks Farm House is a 17th-century farmhouse featuring colourwashed brickwork and a black pantiled hipped roof. The building has an 'L'-shaped plan and stands two storeys tall, with a 19th-century, one-and-a-half storey slate-roofed lean-to addition on the south side and a lower two-storey gabled wing to the west. The north elevation has four bays, highlighted by an off-centre late 19th-century brick porch. The east elevation showcases two bays of 18th and 19th-century sash windows with glazing bars, topped with segmental brick arches over the ground floor windows. Decorative brick dentil eaves and a string course are present at the first-floor level. The hipped roofs are found on the south and east sides, while the west features parapet gables and an internal stack on the western gable. The western range includes a chamfered hardwood mullioned window with intermediate iron bars. The first-floor transverse beams display chamfered and ogee stops, as well as nicked stops. Additionally, there is part of a 17th-century rail and muntin screen in the first-floor bathroom.
