Description
This is an early 17th-century manor house, significantly altered and with a rear wing added in the early 18th century. It has a 'T' shaped layout, standing two stories high with attic rooms and a single-story lean-to at the rear. The facade is composed of five bays arranged irregularly, featuring a brick plinth and a central boarded door within a moulded frame, topped by a porch with a segmental canopy, entablature, and a modillion cornice, now supported by 20th-century columns and pilasters. Late 17th-century oak casement windows are fitted with wrought iron lights, saddle bars, ironmongery, and antique glass quarries. The eaves have a cove, and a central segmental dormer is present. Parapet gables are in English bond, with internal stacks. The northern gable was rebuilt with moulded brick kneelers and brick tumbling. The northern rear wall also in English bond, contains a blocked window and a small single-light brick window near the gable. The rear wing includes an overbar and scattered 19th-century casement windows alongside an 18th-century staircase casement window featuring a wrought iron light with saddle bars. It has brick dentil eaves and a rebuilt north parapet gable with an external stack, moulded brick kneelers and brick tumbling. Inside, to the east is a dog-leg staircase with iron twist balusters and carved tread ends. There is early 18th-century panelling and a chimney piece. The interior also reveals exposed chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, and a butt purlin roof.
