Description

Jordans House is a farmhouse from the early 17th century that was rebuilt to the north, possibly in the late 18th century, and restored and extended to the east in 1850, with further extension to the west in 1886. It is constructed of red brick and features slate and pantiled roofs. The building has a 'T'-shaped plan with two storeys and attics, originally oriented north to south.

The southern gable includes a plinth, 17th-century diapered brickwork, a blocked staircase window, moulded brick kneelers, a stepped gable, and a triple octagonal shafted chimney topped with 19th-century moulded brick. Beyond the cross wings, the house has been much restored and features three windows dating from around 1850, with stone hollow chamfer mullions, wrought iron lights, brick sills, and hood moulds. The northern end has a stepped gable with a stone finial at the peak and a rebuilt chimney from 1982 on the former five-shafted central axial stack.

To the north of this gable and garden wall is an 18th-century wing with three windows and a hipped pantile roof. At the rear, there are 19th-century casements with crown glass in small, rectangular leaded lights, set under flat brick arches. The eastern wing has a plinth, shallow corner buttresses, stone mullioned windows in the gable wall, moulded brick kneelers, and a stepped gable dated 1850. There is an external triple shafted moulded brick stack to the south, and the western wing is styled similarly with a gable dated 1886. Inside, the house features 17th-century stopped and chamfered transverse and axial first floor beams in the southern part.
