Description

The Lodge and attached gates and gate piers are made of colourwashed brick and flint, topped with a black pantile roof. The building has an 'L' shaped plan, featuring a single storey outshut to the west and 19th-century wrought iron gates to the north. It is an extended and modified house with a 17th-century brick parapet gable to the west, which has returns to the north and south. This gable includes moulded brick kneelers and a blocked moulded brick window. There is 18th-century brick infill to the north and south, reaching up to the flint work on the north side, along with a moulded brick plinth. A shallow gabled brick projection to the north has a blocked lodge keeper's doorway. The east side features an 18th-century parapet gable with brick kneelers, a plinth, a platband at attic floor level, and brick tumbling in. A late 18th-century extension to the south has a plinth and a parapet gable with tumbling in. The building has 20th-century doors and windows, a steeply pitched roof with an axial stack to the south, and a 20th-century gable stack to the west. The side gate has solid panelled cast iron piers, while the central double gates feature hollow piers with scrolled wrought iron decoration and ball finials. The profile of the gates and railings sweeps down from the piers, and the railings include a dog rail and spear top finials.
