Description
Manor Farm West Barn and the attached buildings to the southeast and southwest are 18th-century structures made of red brick with a thatched roof. The barn is a three-stead design with a hayloft at the eastern end, and it features a continuous outshut to the south. There are attached ranges of open-fronted shelter sheds to the southeast and southwest, creating a south-facing yard. The western range has a gabled roof, while the eastern range is hipped, with a higher southern section forming a lean-to against the east barn. The barn has off-center doors towards the western end on both the north and south sides, and there are rectangular window openings to the east of the north barn doors. The hayloft door is located on the west gable and has two rectangular openings below it. The southern outshut features three Diocletian windows flanking two stable doors. The parapet gables have tie irons that are dated 1881. This site is included for its group value with the eastern barn, forming an intact farmstead with two south-facing yards. The farmstead illustrates the development of a complex of farm buildings from the early 17th century to the immediate post-field enclosure period.
