Description

The Woodlands is a house dating from the 17th century and later, which has undergone significant restoration. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings, finished with colourwash and partly rendered. The building features a steeply-pitched reed-thatched roof and has an L-shaped plan with one and a half storeys. The windows are mostly 20th-century casements, and there is a small staircase window with a stone surround located at the southwest corner. The west side of the house has three gabled dormers, and there is an attic window in the south gable. The gables are parapeted and coped, with tumbling, and there are internal chimney stacks at the gables, although the central stack was removed during restoration. To the west, there is an 18th-century gabled wing that includes rubbed brick arches over the window openings. Some tie beams feature ogee chamfer stops.
