Description
The Old Rectory is a former rectory house dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick, which was formerly limewashed, and features a hipped slate roof. The building has two storeys and is arranged in a 3 x 3 bay configuration. The central bays on the south and east facades are advanced and topped with a pediment, supported by paired brick pilasters. There are also paired corner pilasters. The windows are sashes with glazing bars and have gauged arches above them, with brick aprons beneath the first-floor windows. On the south elevation, there is a large central tripartite sash window that reaches full storey height, flanked by Doric pilasters and side lights. The eaves cornice is moulded wood. The east facade is symmetrical, featuring a central doorway with a pulvinated architrave and Doric pilasters. There are two large chimney stacks along the ridge line and a small one-storey hipped wing to the north.
