Description

This barn, located approximately 50 metres north-west of River Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century and is currently used as a store. It is constructed of red brick and features a steeply-pitched roof covered in corrugated iron sheeting. The barn has large wagon openings on both the north and south sides, with parapetted and tumbled gables. There are ventilation loops in the south wall, an owl hole, and two later doors in the east gable wall. Inside, there are inserted floors, and the roof structure consists of principals with collars and butted side-purlins, supported by tie beams on timber knees. This barn is included for its group value with River Farmhouse.
