Description
Felthorpe Hall Lodge is a gate lodge to Felthorpe Hall, built in the early 19th century. This cottage ornée is constructed of colourwashed brick and features a thatched roof. It has a T-shaped plan and is 1½ storeys high. The projecting wing faces the road and is surrounded by a verandah on three sides, which has a curved roof supported by rustic poles.
The lodge has a variety of 'Tudor' style windows and doors, all with splayed reveals and moulded brick hood moulds. Each window features four-centred timber arches and leaded glazing. There is a four-light oriel window on the south gable wall facing the road, located under the verandah, and above it is a four-light window in the half hip gable. The west door has studded cover strips, a four-centred arched frame, splayed brick reveals, and a hood mould. The south door is situated in the east cross wing and has a projecting porch supported by timber brackets and half-hipped gables.
The lodge also features a central axial stack with chamfered, square double shafts and a rear stack on the east wing. An Alliance Fire Mark is located on the west gable.
