Description

This is a farmhouse, built around 1700, constructed of red brick with a clay pantile roof. It has an “L” shaped plan, two storeys, and attic space, with its main facade facing west. The facade is divided into five bays by glazed headers. A 19th-century porch with a curved gable sits centrally, housing a 19th-century six-panel door with a fanlight above. The ground-floor windows are 19th-century casements, set within original openings, and include transoms; they have glazing bars and flat, gauged brick arches with a moulded brick band above. First-floor windows are also 19th-century casements with glazing bars. Other elevations display a mix of 18th and 19th-century casement windows, similarly set within original openings, with flat gauged or segmental brick arches. A brick plinth and moulded brick eaves are present throughout. Three curved gables, one of which is particularly notable for its moulded brick kneelers and plat bands, rise at attic level. A 19th-century end stack is located to the east, and there is an external stack on the east wall of the south wing. An axial stack is situated off-centre on the east wing. The west roof slope features 19th-century scallop-shaped tiles. Within the service wing (east), close-spaced, chamfered principal beams with run-out stops are visible in the attic floor. The house contains a late 19th-century dog-leg staircase featuring turned newels and balusters. The roof is a late 19th-century double framed structure.
