Description
The Church of St Nicholas is a former parish church, now managed by the Redundant Churches Fund. It features a 12th-century round tower with a 19th-century octagonal top, a 14th-century nave and north aisle, a 15th-century south porch, and a chancel. The building is constructed of flint rubble with limestone dressings, with a pantiled roof over the nave and south porch, and a leaded roof over the chancel. The roof structure is continuous over the nave and chancel.
The west window is a three-light design with flowing tracery from the mid-14th century. There are three south windows: one is Decorated and two are Perpendicular, all with identical rere-arches and mouldings. The east wall has two staged brick buttresses that mark the line of the former chancel, which has been demolished. The north arcade consists of three bays with double-chamfered arches and quatrefoil piers. The 19th-century roofs feature arched braces on wall posts and corbels, and there is a plastered ceiling over the nave. The church contains 19th-century benches and fittings, as well as fragments of medieval glass in the south windows.
