Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of houses located on the south side of Castle Street, Thetford. The buildings are constructed of clunch and flint with gault brick dressings, and have pantiled roofs. The terrace originally comprised numbers 38 to 60, but the listing now covers numbers 50 to 60.

The terrace is two storeys high, with all openings featuring segmental heads. Numbers 50 to 56 each have a pair of doors, with each pair of houses sharing three bays. The doors are of varying periods, and are generally six-panelled with the top two panels glazed. The windows in number 52 are original 6/6 sash windows. The remaining windows are of various dates and types. Numbers 58 and 60 are each of three bays, with the upper central window blind. These houses have tall carriage arches with double timber doors in addition to panelled pedestrian doors; number 58 also has a pedestrian passage door. The terrace is finished with a dentil eaves cornice and a gabled roof, featuring five ridge stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
