Description
The Mill House is a former miller's house, dated 1798, as indicated by a gable datestone bearing the initial “E”. The facade was altered in the 19th century, around 1840. The building is constructed of brick with a pantiled roof. It follows a lobby entrance type plan and has two storeys and three bays. There are four sash windows with glazing bars, set in slightly narrower and taller openings than originally intended. The ground floor windows have stuccoed skewback arches. A central panelled front door is sheltered by a 19th-century porch featuring an arched entrance and a crenellated parapet. A central axial stack is present, and a later colour-washed lean-to extends to the rear. An original staircase is located beside the stack, and original panelled doors with L-shaped hinges are retained.
