Description
Rookery Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse with later alterations. It is built of reused limestone ashlar, flint, brick, and rendered brick, with a black pantiled roof. The house has a symmetrical facade of three bays, with a central porch supported by a pair of Tuscan columns and a simple entablature. A sash window with glazing bars sits above the porch, protected by a wooden hood mould. A pair of later additions are the canted bays at ground floor, featuring large sash windows and open parapets. Tri-partite sash windows with glazing bars and wooden hood moulds are located above. The house has a tall, rendered parapet and gault brick gable-end stacks. Reused materials include decorative carvings of lozenges, chevrons, sections of shaft, and cushion capitals, likely originating from the destroyed church of St. Mary. The farmhouse is primarily listed for the quality and historical significance of these reused elements.
