Description

Nos. 3 and 5, Quebec Street are a pair of red brick buildings likely dating from the early 19th century, originally of three storeys and four windows wide. The first and second floors have sash windows with segmental heads, although the glazing bars have been lost from the first-floor windows. A wooden shop front is located on the left, a centrally positioned arched passage allows pedestrian access, and an arched entrance with a four-panel door and a wide window are on the right. These buildings contribute to a group value context consisting of Nos. 1 to 15 (odd) and Nos. 23 to 27 (odd) Quebec Street, along with the Former Corn Exchange in Market Place and the Red Lion Hotel in Red Lion Street.
